NormCyber, the award-winning cyber and data risk management specialist, has today announced its sponsorship of local youth cheer team, Bournemouth Elite Cheer’s ‘Icicles’.

The extraordinary athletes, aged 9-12 years, are on the verge of making history as they prepare to compete in the prestigious All Star Cheerleading World Championships in Orlando, Florida, in April 2025. After an undefeated 2024 season, boasting five division wins, three National Champion titles, a judge’s choice and Technique award, this marks the first time a youth team from Bournemouth has qualified for such a significant international competition.

Bournemouth Elite Cheer’s Icicles have been fundraising since October 2024 to make their ‘American dream’ come true when Fareham-based managed security services provider, Norm, joined as sponsor. Norm’s backing means that the team can cover travel expenses, chaperone costs, uniforms and training sessions – ensuring support throughout the cheerleading season.

“This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our team members, who have worked extremely hard to come this far. Thanks to Norm, they now get the chance to shine on the world stage,” said Zoe Dehnert, Director at Bournemouth Elite Cheer.

“We are excited to support the incredible Icicles on their journey to World’s glory,” said Kate Chappelle, Chief Marketing Officer at NormCyber. “At Norm, we’re committed to giving back to our community, and we’re lucky that our region boasts impressive sporting talent. Sponsoring the next generation of athletes aligns with our mission to promote a positive social impact, and we’re proud to back such a deserving team.”

In addition to supporting the Bournemouth Elite Cheer’s Icicles, Norm has a history of backing local athletes. In 2022, Norm sponsored amateur rowing duo Two-Inna-Row’s journey to raise funds for children’s cancer charities by crossing the Atlantic in 54 days unassisted in the world’s toughest ocean rowing race, raising £17.5k.
