The Danish Data Protection Authority has recommended Arp-Hansen Hotel Group (A-H Group) for a fine of DKK 1,100,000 (approx. €147,800) and reported it to the police for failure to delete the personal data of customers in violation of the GDPR.

In particular, the Regulator highlighted that during an inspection of A-H Group’s computer systems it discovered that a booking system contained a lot of personal data that should have been deleted in accordance with the group’s own policies.

Insight

This action by the Danish regulator shows they are focusing on failure to delete personal data. It also highlights the importance of deleting data that is no longer needed and also how failure to comply with your own policies is a sure way of getting a fine.
